Job Title: Senior Kid's Fashion Designer

Job Description:

As a senior member of the KID’S division, you will investigate and be responsible for several cohesive collections of products including both boy and girl clothing piece-types and gift items. This individual will maintain an ongoing and continuous observation and awareness of season-to-season trends and will use retail and showroom shopping, magazines, gift fairs, etc. to analyze the marketplace.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Design and oversee selection of collection piece-types including all color, fabric and design elements.
  • Assist with creation and development of concepts, artwork, prints and colors
  • Assist with creative comments to overseas suppliers
  • Be involved in costing components and negotiations for all projects
  • Collaborate and coordinate with Technical Design department: fittings, sample review etc.
  • Partner with all cross functioning teams including merchandising, sales, customer service etc.
  • Work closely with founder to refine products and collections throughout season

Desired Skills and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Baby and Kids fashion design experience – 5 years preferable
  • Familiarity with Adobe Suite and ability to work comfortably with programs
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Flexible temperament
  • Desire to work closely with a team in a cooperative setting
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions to come up with new product ideas
  • Ability to create the look of the brand and maintain the Mud Pie aesthetic
  • Gather and bring new ideas to the team

Job Title: Print & Product Designer

Are you passionate about following design trends?  Do you want the opportunity to create distinctive product at real world price points?  Mud Pie is looking for a Product Designer to join our award winning design team.

Job Description:

The Print and Product Designer will create exclusive designs for the Mud Pie Living Collection with an emphasis on home entertaining and gifts. They will also assist the Fashion and Kids departments with creating print and fabric patterns.  This position will be responsible for developing original concepts and guiding them through execution, including flat mechanical sketches for design development; material and trim selections, and product review and approval.

Essential Functions:

  • Gather market data on key fashion and home trends
  • Translate trends into concepts that fit the Mud Pie brand
  • Identify piece types and products for development
  • Keen creative vision including style, color and pattern direction
  • Prepare presentation materials for line previews
  • Responsible for sample review and approval
  • Develop SKU-level designs with a proven ability to build an assortment

 Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design or Fine Arts
  • Minimum 5 years design background --Dec Home and/or Holiday experience preferred
  • Print creation experience
  • Proficient in Photoshop and Illustrator

 Other Skills: 

  • Strong verbal and written skills.  Must be comfortable presenting ideas to Sr. Management
  • Team player with the ability to work independently on tight deadlines
  • Knowledge of giftware manufacturing processes a plus

 Job Title:  Compliance & Quality Manager

Job Description

The Compliance & Quality Manage will be responsible for ensuring the legal and regulatory compliance of our products by researching regulations, communicating guidelines within the organization, obtaining appropriate approvals and preparing reports.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Management and documentation of company’s compliance and testing policies.
  • Ongoing monitoring of regulatory changes and product safety news pertinent to company’s product categories.
  • Research international regulations and standards as needed for distributors.
  • Review all products, in the development stage, for applicable regulatory compliance standards and labeling, safety, and performance recommendations.
  • Completion and maintenance of certificates of conformity for all products regulated by the CPSC.

Review quality inspection reports

Desired Skills and Experience

Job Requirements: 

  • General knowledge of quality control standards, inspection practices, and social compliance, and safety auditing.
  • Good communication skills across multiple departments and with international suppliers.
  • Knowledge of materials and product regulations:  Prop 65, CPSC/CPSIA, children’s safety issues, labeling and packaging requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Excel/Word
  • Excellent time management skills
  • High level of self-motivation and creative problem solving ability
  • Ability to work in high volume department and interact with cross –functional teams

 Job Title:  Technical Designer - Children's Apparel

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Build detailed technical packets utilizing designer flat sketches, tracking garment progress through all stages of the developmental lifecycle.
  • Organize and prioritize daily workload of assigned product lines to meet all deadlines.
  • Communicate fit intent and construction to vendors through detailed fit comments, pattern diagrams, pattern corrections, and digital images.
  • Support Technical team in preparing samples and contributing in fit sessions, identifying potential production, quality, and costing issues and proactively making effective recommendations.
  • Measure and prepare all garments with accuracy before fit sessions
  • Take fit notes and photos of samples during fit meetings

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or equivalent experience.
  • Internship or up to 2 years in apparel industry in Technical Design (including experience with construction, grading and patternmaking)
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Excel/Adobe Illustrator/Web PDM
  • Basic understanding of fit, balance and garment construction, fabrics and fabric performance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • High level of self-motivation and creative problem solving ability
  • Ability to work in high volume department and interact with cross –functional teams
